In the fall of ’24, Aquaservice delivered the first ever certified service/utility barges to the industry. The delivery was to cod farmer Kime Akva in Hamnvik (Northern Norway), a milestone that has led to a noticeable increase in interest from the industry. Aquaservice CEO Asgeir Skogstad explains the thorough certification process that has been carried out, with a particular focus on safety in the event of fish escapes.
“We have previously supplied many barges for this purpose, and at the request of customers – we have now developed a certified product that really meets the needs of the industry. The utility barges have been designed in collaboration with our customers over a long period of time, and we can see that this product has hit a nerve so to speak,” says Skogstad.
